Antikvariatets beskrivning

Bindning och skick: Häftat band. Fint antikvariskt skick. Med skyddsomslag i fint antikvariskt skick.

Julian Stair's project Quietus : The vessel, death and the human body saw him tour a large group of monumental vessels, installations and ceramic objects to four prominent venues in the UK . The subject of the exhibition was Stair's development of funerary and cinerary ware, with the mode of presentation at each of the venues being highly specific to their very different atmospheres and curatorial approaches. This publication reviews some of the experiences of creating and seeing Julian Stair's work over 2012-13, and provides a unique model for ways in which exhibition making can be assessed. The texts include: an interview with Julian Stair by curator and writer Helen Waters, discussing the Quietus work within the context of Stair s practice; an essay by James Beighton, Curator at MIMA, on the relationship between 'Quietus' and MIMA's programme of large-scale ceramics installations; an essay by Andrew Renton of National Museum Wales, discussing how archaeology specialists contributed to the project, integrating Bronze age / Iron age funerary and cinerary ware; parallel texts by Sophie Hacker, arts consultant to Winchester Cathedral, and Roland Riems, Canon Chancellor of Winchester Cathedral, describing the Quietus display there; an assessment of Quietus by Michael Tooby using a commentary based on audience responses at each venue. The publication is designed by Geoffrey Winston of Graphics with Art, powerfully illustrated with installation photographs taken at each venue by Jan Baldwin. Hft med skyddsomslag, 64 sidor. Wunderkammer (Bath, 2013). Språk: engelska.
